To generate enough electricity during peak period to power 400 to 500 Vineland homes, Calpine operates a 4 MW Photovoltaic power plant consisting of over 13,000 mono-crystalline silicon solar panels. These panels are mounted on structural steel foundations and set at a 25 degree fixed tilt to the Southern horizon to maximize solar energy collection.
| Calpine uses high-efficiency solar panels in order to limit the land use requirements to just 15 acres.
The low-voltage DC power from the solar panels is converted and transformed into high-voltage AC power on site then transmitted to the Vineland Municipal Electric Grid. When fully operational, this plant will produce approximately 5,500 MWh of energy annually. >> Take a Virtual Tour of Vineland Solar One |
